WebApr 12, 2009 · Then I go to start it and it does start, but runs rough, then smooths out and then dies, like it's not getting gas. If i cycle the choke, sometimes it helps keep it running, but not always. I changed the fuel filter but that didn't help. When it does start, it runs for just a minute at best, then dies. See if one cylinder is weak by alternately disconnecting one spark plug wire and seeing how the engine runs. Compare the 2 cylinders against each other. I appear to have a lower main seal oil leak. I put a new O-ring on the lower end of the plastic dipstick tube where it enters the engine. I also replaced the O-ring on the dipstick itself.
