WebThe finish on the face of a flange is from which the flange is produced. The purchaser measured as an Arithmetical Average Roughness should specify the exact requirements. Height (AARH). The finish is determined by the Flange Sizes. All sizes and grades compatible to standard used. WebRoughness is normally specified in millionths of an inch as the average of the peaks and valleys measured from a midline of the flange surface. We recommend the flange finish conform, whenever possible, to 30-55 serrations per inch, in a concentric or spiral pattern, cut with a 1/16" radius, round-nosed tool. This finish is usually difficult or impossible to create in non-circular flanges. WebFlanges R, S and T are designated obsolescent and are not recommended for use in new equipment. They are retained to provide for the servicing of existing equipment that is expected to have a long working life. For new equipment, flanges R, S and T should be replaced with flanges to AS/NZS 4331, Parts 1 to 3, ANSI B16.5 or BS 4504 (series).
